The story of Stanwood, WA

The city of Stanwood, Washington has small town character and a great sense of community.  Settled in 1866 as a trading post at the mouth of the Stilliguamish River, Stanwood,Washington is small with a population of less than 8000 residence, but is continuing to grow. The most sought-after area is the 5.4 mile area surrounding Stanwood’s largest lake, Lake Goodwin. Stanwood has many lakes and has also been know as the 7 Lakes Community.

Things To Do

A new train station opened up in 2009.  Near the station, visitors will find many unique shops and restaurants less than one block walk. Some locally owned favorite restaurants include the Stanwood Hotel and Saloon, Jimmy’s Pizza and Pasta , Farmers Cafe  and my personal favorite The Paddle Pub.

If music is your thing Stanwood hosts a summer concert series or year round live music and Karaoke at several local hot spots.  In the summer check out Port Susan Farmer’s market which features fresh locally grown produce and local goods.  The first weekend in August is devoted to the Stanwood/Camano Fair, a country fair full of animals, exhibits and local vendors.  Stanwood is home to the 2nd largest lake in Snohomish County, Lake Goodwin and Wenberg County Park are local hot spots for swimming, fishing, water sports and camping.
